Welcome!

In the lab, our focus lies in the comprehensive exploration of the multifaceted components that contribute to human movement, also known as Mobility. We delve into an array of factors (referred to as ‘X’) that exert influence on the effectiveness, adaptability, and fairness of mobility systems. The following examples highlight our ongoing research endeavors:

  • Understanding the patterns and dynamics of individual travel within existing mobility systems through the utilization of data-driven approaches and mathematical models.
  • Developing innovative designs, operations, factors, and incentives for mobility systems that may revolutionize conventional travel behaviors.
  • Investigating the enduring impacts of transportation infrastructure and system design on the broader dynamics of communities over the long term.
  • Modeling and interpreting mobility systems and their coupling with external systems/dynamics as interdependent networks/networks of networks

Prospective Students

We are always looking for highly-motivated students who have a background in mathematical modeling and data analytics, and are proficient with programming. For undergraduate/master’s students who are at Rice and interested in the lab’s research, feel free to send me an email and schedule an in-person meeting. For all other students, please send me an email with your CV, transcripts, and relevant research papers for inquiries about graduate research assistant openings.
See below the flyer for the current openings for the Spring 2025 semester.
